Global Terrorism from Global Issues

In the article “Global Terrorism from Global Issues” it explains the terrorism around the world that are occurring now and in the past. Terrorism is hard to define on what attack or action you can consider it to be terrorism because many different types of attacks have been considered a terrorist attack. The chapter explains the factors that makeup terrorism and the factors were poverty, globalization, legitimate grievance and the failure of governments, humiliation, the lack of democracy and violations of human rights, and the foreign policies that contributed to terrorism. It also states the goals, strategies, and weapons of terrorism, and the goals of terrorism were social and political justice, self-determination, racial superiority, foreign policies, publicity, and demoralized government. Some of the strategies were to create a climate of fear and insecurity and cultivating popular support and some of the weapons were sarin gas, anthrax, poison, and motor vehicles that were used as bombs. The terrorist groups need ways to finance their activities and some of the ways they finance their activities were contributions from individuals and other groups, oil, diamonds, natural resources. Around the world, there were different kinds of terrorism which were domestic, nationalists, religious, state, and global terrorism and some examples of the groups were the Ku Klux Klan, Red Brigades, and Holocaust. However, in responding to terrorism they are showing more attention to terrorism and the support is growing on this problem.
